Simon Cowell on retirement: “I’d rather drop dead”

Simon Cowell says that he has no plans to retire and that the idea itself makes him “want to jump off a bridge”.

The ‘X Factor’ chief also said that he has no interest in marriage, saying that he thinks it’s “boring”.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Cowell revealed: ''I'd rather drop dead doing my job. The idea of getting up in the morning to play golf makes me want to jump off a bridge.''

In fact, Cowell believes that growing old has its benefits: ''You don't get so insecure or competitive. And if you can grow old gracefully, you're fit and healthy and not bad looking.''

As for marriage, Cowell says that he thinks he’s happier on his own: ''Well it worries me because I've seen it destroy people. And I couldn't think of anything worse than being in an unhappy marriage,” he said. “Actually, being on my own is the best thing in the world. It's like breathing in oxygen -- I can really switch off then.

''I'm fine as I am. I think that when you get into a rut, it gets boring,” he added.

''Look, when no matter how big your house is, you are going to end up on the same sofa, in the same bed or in the same room as a person, you are going to get bored. It's a boring routine.''
