Download Festival head booker: 'All the bands think they're headlining'

The head booker for rock and metal music festival Download has revealed that every year the bands booked think they should be headlining and they often have to be put in their places.

Speaking to London's Metro newspaper, Live Nation promoter Andy Copping explained that there are a lot of egos involved so securing a solid line up and figuring out stage times can be tricky:

"A lot of negotiations are over where a band will appear. Who's playing above and below them, are they a main stage headliner? Bizarrely, all acts seem to think they are."

This year's event, which is taking place over this weekend, is being headlined by the likes of Rammstein, Slipknot and Iron Maiden, and Copping added that the best way to deal with stubborn bands is to just show your authority:

"Sometimes, you have to get a bit s**tty with them, 'This is what you did on your last tour, this is how many records you've sold, you haven't grown in stature since. This is where you slot in; bite my arm off and kiss my ass'."
