The Wanted: 'We've avoided cheesy boyband songs for our new album'

UK based boyband The Wanted have opened up about their forthcoming new album and revealed that they want to move away from being a "cheesy" pop act so actively recorded more edgy songs for it.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the lads confirmed that their next full-length offering will be more 'pop-rock' and even a little more 'sensible':

"Our last album was a bit mid-tempo and we looked at it like loads of boyband songs. When you hear these songs you're going to think, 'These songs will break'. And not like cheesy boyband, but pop-rock. We call it sensible pop."

Heartthrob Siva Kaneswaran added that they collaborated with Rita Ora for the cut and they can't wait to release their new body of work as it will be their first international album: "The next album is our first international release and it's taken us two long years. I think it's our best album yet. It's very personal to us and has hit after hit after hit on it."

"I did a song with Rita [Ora]. I literally just spoke to her and her manager and was like, 'Listen, I'll send you the edit'. When she hears it, she's going to love it."
