Pharrell Wiliams files trademark lawsuit against will.i.am

Pharrell Wiliams has launched a lawsuit against will.i.am in an effort to clear himself of any possible trademark violations.

Williams runs a company called I Am Other and its branding seems to have caused some friction with will.i.am.

BBC Newsbeat reports that the 'Blurred Lines' star has now filed a lawsuit against the Voice UK coach in order to clarify that he isn't violating trademark rules.

It says that he has received letters from will.i.am that demand the singer stop using his 'I Am' branding.

The lawsuit states that Williams' branding does not feature full stops between the words, whereas will.i.am's does.

A lawyer for will.i.am meanwhile previously denied speculation that his client was due to sue Williams, stating that the '#willpower' man was only wanting to "protect" his trademark.
