Jason Derulo: 'For my first and second albums I wasn't myself, I was playing a role'

Singer Jason Derulo has opened up about the personal development he has gone through as a recording and performing artist.

Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, the 'It Girl' superstar explained that he keeps himself to himself where his private life is concerned and likes to then portray a more outgoing character when on stage:

"My mom said I was an introvert. I'd never thought of myself that way, but I suppose I do tend to be quiet, then become someone completely different on stage. For my first and second albums, I wasn't myself. I was just playing a role."

Derulo also recently opened up about the backlash Jessie J faced following her role as a vocal coach on 'The Voice' and told Now magazine: "She's so hilarious. I just die laughing. She's really an amazing person. She's the kindest person I've met. For her to be getting a backlash is crazy... [she is] the most genuine celebrity I know."
