Pattie Mallette has confessed that while she loves her son dearly, she doesn't always approve of his behaviour.

The 38-year-old mother of Justin Bieber told the hosts of American chat show 'The View' today (July 10) that the press have a way of shedding a negative light on the 'Boyfriend' heartthrob, but deep down he is a great kid and has his heart in the right place:

"I think all parents worry about their kids. I don’t necessarily agree with everything that he does, but we talk about things."

"I can’t really tell you all the things we talk about, but I’m super proud of him [for] a lot of things he does that don’t make the headlines everyday. I just try to encourage him to stay true to who he is, and stay grounded and humble. I just always encourage him and say... you always have to learn the hard way, and you’ll get there, and I believe in you.”

Mallette was also quizzed about Bieber's on-off relationship with Selena Gomez after photos of the couple supposedly spending July 4 together surfaced online and she joked: "I know, it depends what day it is!"
