Dropkick Murphys donate $300,000 to Boston Marathon bombing victims

Boston band Dropkick Murphys have revealed that they will donate a significant amount of money to those affected by the tragic marathon bombing.

The terrible events took place on April 15 as people were passing the sporting event's finish line and the band, who are an integral part of the city's identity, confirmed that $300,000 will be donated to over 60 victims following their amazing fundraising efforts.

The punks' 'For Boston' campaign saw the sales of specially designed merchandise (shown below), a concert held at the city's House of Blues venue down in Fenway and the release of a charity EP, which also featured a cameo from Bruce Springsteen on a track called 'Rose Tattoo'.

Ken Casey, the founder of the band and the organisation named the Claddagh Fund, told Billboard: "Every single person we had the pleasure of meeting expressed a positive attitude and an incredible sense of perseverance as they work hard to return to the lives they enjoyed before the tragic day in April."

"We were humbled by the kindness of our friends and fans who got behind this cause with so much heart and passion, it was truly an honor to be able to represent them and contribute, even if in a small way, to help these inspirational individuals."
