Spice Girls musical 'will rise again', says producer

Judy Craymer, the producer of 'Viva Forever!', has revealed that despite the fact that the Spice Girls inspired musical has now closed following a run of only 7 months she believes it will return in the future.

The production ended on June 29 after suffering poor ticket sales, but Craymer told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper that she expects it will hit the stage again "at some point":

"Oh yes, I'm sure Viva! will rise again at some point. It can be worked on. It was heartbreaking that we had to close it. I wouldn't say there weren't faults with it, but I love the Spice Girls, and, when you are thinking about a subject to write a musical about, I think that the Spice Girls have earned a place on our landscape."

Craymer (pictured above left with Jennifer Saunders) added that the Spice Girls members were disappointed at the musical's untimely end, but understood it had to happen: "They understand the ups and downs of showbusiness, but then they have had a lot of knocks themselves and they are still here."

Back in May, singer Geri Halliwell revealed her sadness at the news but told fans that Craymer was an inspiration to work with: "I don’t regret it. I got to meet and work with the fabulous Judy Craymer, the producer whom I hope to be a friend for life."
