Music stars pay tribute to Trayvon Martin at London's Wireless Festival and around the globe

Over the weekend, it was announced that the killer of Florida teen Trayvon Martin (pictured below) had been found not guilty of murder and was allowed to walk free.

17-year-old Martin was shot dead in February 2012 by a man named George Zimmerman, who claimed that it was an act of self defense although no threat was thought to have been posed by the unarmed teenager at the time.

As soon as the news that Zimmerman was not charged with murder was made public, music stars took to their respective social networking sites to share their shock at the verdict. Rapper Macklemore wrote: "This Zimmerman case has left me with a sick feeling in my gut... Reminding me how cruel and unjust America can be when at its worst."

Nicki Minaj tweeted: "And our taxes paid for that trial. We just paid to see a murderer walk free after killing an innocent unarmed little boy. #GodBlessAmerica."

Rihanna posted a message that read: "A child was gunned down for no reason! And nothing about that sounds like murder? My baby brother is 17, this rocked my whole s**t! #thesystemisandhasalwaysbeenphucked" Jamie Foxx added: "I want to wrap my arms around Trayvon's parents and family during this emotional time. Trayvon will LIVE in our hearts forever. We will make sure that he did not die in vain."

At London's Wireless Festival over the weekend, A Tribe Called Quest (shown above left) spoke about the injustice served from the stage and told fans, "this s**t happens everyday and it ain't fair man."

Meanwhile, Beyoncé performed in Nashville on Saturday night (July 13) and paused her set to address the situation, telling gig-goers to stop for a "moment of silence for Trayvon”.
