Concert promoter claims Morrissey cost him $300,000 after cancelling performances

Cristian Pereira, chief financial officer of concert promotions company Colors Chile, has accused iconic musician Morrissey of losing him a significant amount of money for pulling out of scheduled gigs in Peru.

The 'Meat Is Murder' star was supposed to perform several dates around South America, but has been forced to cancel them due to contracting a nasty bout of food poisoning and one promoter is angry at the last minute axed dates.

In an official statement, Pereira explains that he has lost out on $300,000 thanks to Morrissey's illness and subsequent cancellation of shows, and he was tempted to seek legal action but eventually decided not to as it might put a strain on the relationship with Morrissey:

"I have not (sic) the final figure... However, the loss costs - subject to lease by the Jockey Club (venue in Lima), hotel, transfers, taxes - comes to $300,000... That issue (Morrissey's health) was our concern. When hired as Morrissey's (concert) company, we wanted to take out insurance and we noticed with surprise that he is uninsurable (because of) the health problems."

"We could have taken legal action against his people, but... because we want to maintain a good relationship with the artist (we declined)... We will ask the agent (for) Morrissey to reimburse us the money we gave him... The loss is huge."
