Sacha Baron Cohen quits Freddie Mercury biopic

Sacha Baron Cohen has pulled out of a biopic of the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury.

The Borat star's manager confirmed to Variety that the actor clashed with the film's bosses over "creative differences".

It is said that Cohen was unhappy at the tone of the movie, which is due to focus on the lead-up to Queen's famous Live Aid performance in 1985.

The project has been mooted for a number of years and its screenplay has been penned by Peter Morgan, who worked on Frost/Nixon.

Queen guitarist and drummer Brian May and Roger Taylor are scheduled to have control over the music that will be played in the flick.

Singer Mercury meanwhile passed away in 1991 after succumbing to AIDS.
