'X Factor' singer Jahméne Douglas lands midweek No.1 album

Jahméne Douglas, who was the runner-up on 'The X Factor' in 2012, has entered the midweek UK albums chart at No.1 with his debut offering, 'Love Never Fails'.

The talented 22-year-old singer shot straight into the top spot with the record, pushing Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' down one place to No.2. Passenger's 'All The Little Lights' has shot up to No.4, Selena Gomez secured an impressive new entry at 5 with 'Stars Dance', and Rudimental's 'Home' moved up to No.10.

Elsewhere in the UK Top 40, Rolling Stones' 'Hyde Park Live' collection has been propelled into rundown at No.15, One Direction's 'Take Me Home' is at 29, and Ed Sheeran's fantastic '+' is clinging on at No.32 after 98 weeks in the chart.

Douglas spoke to Digital Spy earlier this week about his debut album, which is full over covers of other well-known tracks, and confessed that releasing it has been a stressful process:

"I'm excited and stressed about it as it's my first music baby. Hopefully it grows up to a healthy young man. This is the part that scares me - it's all covers. That said, I'm from 'X Factor' and I'm lucky just to be making an album. This is me building my foundations with what I can do in the music industry. My second album will be more my stuff because I do write a lot of stuff."
