Jay Z defends record sales through Samsung app: 'Americans overreact to everything'Rap heavyweight and music mogul Jay Z has opened up about the controversy surrounding his million pound deal with Samsung that saw 1 million copies of his new album offered on a first come first served basis. The downloadable app supposedly gave the hitmaker a leg-up on sales figures for 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed it was due to be certified Platinum upon release as a result of the marketing tool. It was then decided that digital albums will now be counted instantly and speaking about the situation, which divided the industry, Jay Z explained that a lot of people merely overreacted and the album's success throughout time will be the real marker of how well received it has been: "In America we have an overreaction to everything. I'm not concerned with noise because I'm playing the long game. I see 10 years down the road and then we'll really be able to judge the album for what it is."
