Jay Z's former hyphen posts 'employment wanted' ad on Craigslist

Earlier this month it was confirmed that rap superstar Jay Z had decided to drop the hyphen from his name and now someone, posing as the no longer needed dash, has posted a job seeking advertisement online.

Identified only as "Hardworking SBL (Straight Black Line)", the post in question was shared on Craigslist in New York this week and pokes fun at the '99 Problems' hitmaker for abandoning the punctuation in favour of a sleeker-looking moniker.

It reads: "Despite having been recently laid off by my previous employer after 19 years of devoted service, I am eager to meet new people and to continue to challenge myself professionally. I am experienced and proficient in joining two separate words to create a compound (like "back-stabbing") or multiple words to create a longer compound phrase (like "Here comes Jay Thinks-he's-so-great-just-because-he's-buddies-with-president-Obama-Z")."

Billboard's editor, Joe Levy, made the press aware of the change when he tweeted: "Breaking: Jay Z has dropped the hyphen from his name, according to his label. I am not kidding. (Wish I was.) Copy editors: take note."
