Jahmene Douglas takes pop at Katy Perry's 'Last Friday Night' lyrics

Jahmene Douglas has criticised Katy Perry and suggested that some of her lyrics are a bad influence on youths.

The singer told the Metro that he refused to perform her track 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)' on the X Factor last year because of its message.

The song opens with the lines 'There's a stranger in my bed/There's a pounding in my head' and Douglas reckons that the track promotes promiscuity and party behaviour. He said:

"The lyrics were about threesomes and getting naked and dancing on tables and getting wasted. [X Factor co-star] Ella Henderson was 16 at the time and there are eight-year-olds in the audience. It's wrong."

Douglas added: "I was thinking 'I really can’t minister that message to people who might be looking up to me. It’s wrong to do that. I might be being old-fashioned. I didn’t realise what the lyrics were until I saw the lyric sheet. I was like: 'Whoa!'."
