Jake Bugg slams TV talent shows

Jake Bugg believes shows like the X Factor are more interested in moulding profitable acts than looking out for genuine talent.

The ITV show is one of many reality programmes that scour the general public for new stars, with BBC's The Voice also in the game.

Speaking to The Sun, rising singer-songwriter Bugg believes that these type of shows are more about finding singers who will go on to make money, rather than actual ability. He said:

"It's not about the talent. It never has been. Those shows are about who the judges think the public will like the most and who they can make the most money from."

Speaking meanwhile about his own stage show, Bugg added: "Some people say I have no stage presence and don't talk much, but I'm not about that. I don't need a load of stage tricks. I write songs and play songs."
