Music mogul and 'X Factor' creator Simon Cowell has admitted that the new panel on America's version of the show is his favourite yet.

The previous season's judges included LA Reid, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears although out of the three only Lovato was asked to return.

Speaking about the new line up, which features Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio, he confessed that it just works:

"It's like having a dinner party. You invite people for dinner and sometimes it's a fun night, and other times it's not as fun as you hoped it would be. This [season] is a fun dinner party."

Cowell went on to explain that he knew the last season's panel wasn't going to flow well from "day one": "I felt we were doing what everybody else was doing and I had this impatience to get on to [upcoming] season three so we could do what we wanted to do."

Referring to his new 'X Factor USA' judges, the superstar described them as being "like family".
