Chris Colfer on returning to work without Cory Monteith: 'It's different and difficult'

Singer and actor Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel on the hit U.S. series 'Glee', has revealed that heading back to the set without Cory Monteith is very sad.

31-year-old Monteith passed away back in mid-July from a heroin and alcohol overdose and the cast have just returned to work for what will be the show's fifth, and apparently penultimate, season.

Speaking about the loss of Monteith as both a friend and colleague, Colfer explained that it definitely isn't the same and shooting new scenes is strange without having him around:

"We've had bumps and dips along the road over the course of the years, but nothing like this. I know we've always come together - always - in the past, because we are such a family in the cast and the crew. I'm assuming things will be very different, and I'm sure they'll be difficult at first. But... We'll see. I think I'm positive."

Meanwhile, co-star Lea Michele told her Twitter followers today (August 6) that she has recorded a "beautiful" song to mark her first week back at work following the untimely death of her fellow cast mate and boyfriend.
