'Glee' bosses: 'Cory Monteith's character won't die from a drug overdose'

Following 'Glee' star Cory Monteith's tragic death back in July, the show's bosses revealed that they have been trying to figuring out how to end his character's run respectfully and have decided that it won't mirror his death in real life.

The singer and actor, who was 31-years-old, was found dead in a Canadian hotel room last month and toxicology results showed that he passed away from an overdose of heroin and alcohol.

Creator Ryan Murphy (pictured below) has now revealed to Deadline that Monteith's character (Finn Hudson) won't suffer the same grizzly fate, but will still die:

"At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose. That was something we had considered. But we have decided that we're not going to have him pass from that."

"Basically, what we're doing in the episode is we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died. The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, 'This episode is about a celebration of that character's life'. That might be weird for some people, but it felt really exploitative to do it any other way."
