Seattle duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been added to the already impressive line up of performers for this year's MTV VMAs ceremony.

The event will take place on August 25 at the Brooklyn Barclays Center and the 'Can't Hold Us' hitmakers will take the stage for a live set. Other performers include Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kanye West and Robin Thicke.

This will mark the pair's first appearance at the VMAs and they are up for Best Video with a Social Message (for 'Same Love'), Best Hip-Hop Video (for 'Can't Hold Us'), and Video of the Year (for 'Thrift Shop').

MTV confirmed that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will perform their marriage equality anthem 'Same Love' at the Video Music Awards later this month. Bruno Mars was also added to the bill this afternoon (August 16).
