Nicole Scherzinger says Lewis Hamilton was "sweet" to dedicate his recent race win to her.

The ‘Boomerang’ songstress and Formula 1 driver Hamilton called their relationship off earlier this year due to their busy work schedules.

The sportsman spoke out about his former girlfriend after his triumph at the Hungary race recently, gushing: “I feel like, the thought on my mind through the entire race was of someone really special to me. And I want to dedicate it to her.”

Scherzinger says although it was kind of the star to mention her, the two are very much still living separate lives.

Speaking to British newspaper The Sun she said: “The truth is we’re no longer together. It is over. I know he’s been very public about trying to get me back, but we’re still not together.”

She added: “It was sweet of him. I don’t like to take credit for things. I like to stay in the background but it’s nice to be acknowledged and to know that someone realises the support that they had. I don’t know what the future holds to be honest, but as it stands we’re not together.”

Nicole also revealed in the interview that she can't wait for The X Factor UK to kick off tonight (August 31).

She smiled: “I’m having a blast this year. I love it when I get on that stage and I’m doing stuff.”
