Glee star Kevin McHale has revealed that an upcoming episode of the series that pays tribute to Cory Monteith is "extremely emotional".

The popular US TV show was plunged into despair in July when 31-year-old Monteith - who plays the character Finn Hudson - died as a result of heroin and alcohol.

The programme recently began filming its upcoming fifth series and there will be an episode that features Hudson's death.

Speaking to TVLine, actor Kevin McHale said of the "extremely emotional" episode:

"When [the cast] got the script, we were all reading it together and we were like, 'Did you get to that one scene?'. When you see it, everyone will know what that one scene is."

The new series of Glee meanwhile is due to air in the US from September 26.
