Nirvana, Chic and Kiss land Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations

A number of acts have landed nominations for next year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Nirvana, Chic and Kiss are three groups looking to land a place in the project, which will choose five new acts in April next year.

Other new nominees include the Replacements, Hall and Oates, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel and Yes.

Paul Butterfield Blues Band, LL Cool J, N.W.A., Link Wray, the Meters, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens and the Zombies are also up for nomination.

For the second year running, fans can have their say on who they think should be inducted into the coveted Hall of Fame, which last year invited the likes of Rush, Heart and Public Enemy onto their list.

To be eligible for the class of 2014, acts need to have released their first single or album in 1988 or earlier.

Nirvana have been nominated in their first year of eligibility, having released the track 'Love Buzz' in 1988.
