OneRepublic's 'Counting Stars' named the UK's No.1 single

This week's coveted No.1 position on the UK singles chart goes to OneRepublic with their new offering, 'Counting Stars'.

The track peaked at the top spot during the midweek update on Wednesday, October 16 and it managed to retain its impressive lead until today. Frontman Ryan Tedder told the Official Charts Company: "This is by far the coolest thing that’s happened to us."

"I’ve had a number of Number1s with other artists, but never one with this band. This is where I spend most of my time; these guys [guitarists Zach Filkins and Drew Brown, bassist Brent Kutzle and drummer Eddie Fisher] are like my brothers and we’ve been everywhere and back. This is the highlight of the year!”

Miley Cyrus dropped one place to No.2 with 'Wrecking Ball', Lawson are new in at No.3 with 'Juliet', and Eminem made an appearance at No.5 with his new single, 'Rap God'. Justin Bieber's 'All That Matters' debuted at No.20 and Iggy Azalea has charted at 10 with 'Change Your Life'

Meanwhile, OneRepublic recently announced plans to tour the UK and Ireland next year and will kick off the jaunt on March 16 with a concert at Camden's Roundhouse venue. The band is also set to visit Dublin, Bristol, and Leeds on the 2014 run.
