Amelia Lily explains album delay: "I'm a perfectionist"

Amelia Lily has admitted that she delayed the release of her debut album because she wasn't happy with how it was sounding.

The 19-year-old singer appeared on the UK X Factor in 2011 and came third before releasing a trio of singles, with 'You Bring Me Joy' hitting No.2.

Lily was originally due to release the record 'Be A Fighter' in July but it was effectively 'cancelled' in favour of new material.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the singer admitted that her perfectionism and desire to release content she is happy with slowed up the album process. She said:

"I'm a perfectionist, as a lot of people who are close to me know. I didn't want to release something that I wasn't 100% happy with. I've gone back in the studio now, working on new songs. I feel a lot older now."

Lily added: "I feel like I've learned a lot from being in the industry for the past two years and I've gone back in and I know exactly what kind of direction of music I want to do. I'm looking forward to people hearing my new music, and hopefully it won't disappoint you all! It'll be worth the wait, I promise you."

The X Factor star's other two singles - 'Shut Up (and Give Me Whatever You Got)' and 'Party Over' - reached No.11 and No.40 in the UK chart respectively.

Lily meanwhile lost out to winners Little Mix and Marcus Collins in 2011's X Factor final.
