Taylor Momsen has been fronting American rock band The Pretty Reckless since 2009 but she feels that people are only starting to come around to the idea of her as a musician.

Before launching The Pretty Reckless Momsen was known as an actress with a role in the movie ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ and later playing the character Jenny Humphrey in US teen drama series ‘Gossip Girl’.

Looking back on her transition from television starlet to rock chick, Momsen told the NY Post that it was an image change that may have shocked people but it was a natural progression for her.

The 20-year-old singer told the newspaper: “When I started The Pretty Reckless, I know there was some reaction to the way I am onstage, but the people who actually know me weren’t surprised at all.”

She added: “As time goes by, people are starting to realize that I am a musician, and the person I played on TV was just a character.”

The Pretty Reckless are currently on their 'Going To Hell' tour which visits venues around the US and Canada.
