Ed Sheeran debuts new song at Madison Square Garden concert

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran performed a sold out concert at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden last night (October 29) and debuted a brand new song.

Before playing the track, thought to be entitled 'So In Love', he opened up about how writing it came about and told the audience:

"This is one of my favourites from the new record... I know you're excited, I really appreciate it. I wrote this song after the GRAMMYs. I was in a situation at the GRAMMYs and everything was kind of all happening at once. There were a lot of people around that were talking a lot of s**t. The only sense that was coming out of anyone's lips was just one person... I wrote a song about it and I hope you enjoy it."

Tweeting about the experience of headlining the venue, Sheeran wrote: "Massive love to @garysnowpatrol and the lads being the surprise opening act tonight, such an honour sharing the stage with these guys again. Madison Square Garden. What a night."

Sheeran, meanwhile, will play a special Halloween show on October 31 at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan and told fans they have to dress up in order to attend.
