Rihanna covers up Maori tattoo with new decorative design

Earlier this month, Bajan beauty Rihanna sat through a painful process in order to get a traditional Maori tattoo done on her hand, but she has now opted for it to be covered by a completely different design.

The 'Umbrella' superstar got the original inking in Aukland, New Zealand and it was done using a chisel so took a lot longer than the conventional method, but she has now covered over the series of arrows and markings with an elaborate creation from New York based artist Bang Bang.

Tattoo artist Bang Bang shared a snapshot of his work via his official Instagram page, revealing that Rihanna decided to get rid of the Maori influence and change it for something more decorative. Writing alongside the image (shown below), the artist explained that the design took hours to create but the final result was well worth the time spent:

"One more- before and after on @badgalriri .... @callyjoart and I spent hours and hours drawing on different designs, we finally found one that worked! So proud we made it pretty."
