Coldplay, Paul McCartney and Brian May redesign Pudsey Bear

A host of big names including Coldplay and Sir Paul McCartney have given Pudsey Bear a makeover for this year's Children In Need.

The iconic bear, which is part of the annual British fundraising appeal, has been redesigned by eight famous faces.

It's all part of Children In Need's Very Important Pudsey campaign, with the bears set to be auctioned off later for charity.

Coldplay commented about their bear: "Being allowed to dress Pudsey up in a Coldplay style is a massive honour. Viva la Vida Pudsey is made of trims from the actual outfits we wore in the Viva video so he's basically a band member. We hope he'll go to a great home and raise lots of money for a very important cause."

Sir Paul McCartney's bear is inspired by the Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' album whilst Queen guitarist Brian May has created an astronomy themed piece.

The other names contributing a bear are Sir Terry Wogan, Joanna Lumley, Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Judi Dench and Shirley Bassey.

The Pudseys are currently on show at London's St Pancras International station.

This year's Children In Need appeal meanwhile will take place on November 15, with Ellie Goulding's 'How Long Will I Love You' picked as the official single.
