Keane: 'We recommended Lily Allen for Christmas advert song cover'

Brit rockers Keane have confessed that they suggested Lily Allen to John Lewis to cover their single 'Somewhere Only We Know' for its Christmas advert this year.

Frontman Tom Chaplin told Britain's Daily Star that when the company asked to use the track, he recommended Allen because he knew she would do a great version of it:

"John Lewis did ask me if they could use the song, and we recommended Lily. She's a big fan, and we knew she'd do a great version. I think the cartoon advert is lovely. It's like Watership Down without the bloodshed."

The band's drummer, Richard Hughes, added: "I want some of the bear and hare toys for my nieces and nephews for Christmas."

Meanwhile, Allen's cover of the single is due to chart in the UK this weekend and it has been at No.1 on the UK iTunes chart this week.
