'Glee' star Dianna Agron on Cory Monteith tribute episode absence: 'It makes me sad'

Blonde bombshell Dianna Agron has opened up about not appearing in the Cory Monteith tribute episode of 'Glee'.

Agron starred alongside Monteith as cheerleader Quinn Fabray, but didn't feature in the episode that was filmed to celebrate his life following his tragic and untimely passing back in the summer. Speaking to Digital Spy about not being involved, she explained that it was tough:

"What I'm surprised about is how big that story has become. It's something that's involving our friend."

"It's just interesting how the press loves to pick up a negative story - whether it's true or not - and run with it. It's very disheartening and very sad. It's very bittersweet not being there every day like I once was."

Agron added: "On top of that to have things like this flying around, it makes me sad."

The show's producer and creator, Ryan Murphy, told press around the time of filming that it was an "incredibly difficult" project to spend time on: "It was incredibly difficult to work on. It was very difficult to shoot. I mean, the interesting thing about that show is that those actors and the creators really, really loved Cory. The episode is called 'The Quarterback,' and you know Cory really was that, to that group of people and to me particularly. There was nobody on that crew that did not like Cory."
