The BBC Sound of 2014 longlist has been revealed, with the likes of Sam Smith featuring.

170 tastemakers were asked who they think will make it big next year and a total of 15 acts have been nominated.

They include Sam Smith and Ella Eyre, who have both featured on UK No.1 singles already.

The nominees also feature the likes of Luke Sital-Singh, Chloe Howl and Royal Blood.

A shortlist of five acts will be revealed on January 6 before the BBC Sound of 2014 winner is confirmed on January 10.

Last year's winners were US act Haim, whilst the likes of Adele and Ellie Goulding have picked up the title in the past. The full 2014 longlist meanwhile is as follows:
