Shakira to drop new single in January

Shakira will unleash a new single next month.

Sony Music Entertainment have confirmed that the singer will release the first track from her upcoming new album in January, according to Billboard.

There is little other detail about the song, but Shakira herself recently tweeted that she had just wrapped up work on a video with Joseph Kahn.

It has been rumoured that the 'Hips Don't Lie' lady has teamed up with Rihanna for a blockbuster collaboration, with Pitbull seemingly backing up the suggestion in a recent interview.

Speaking about his new track 'Timber', he said: "The person we were looking at first to work on that record was Rihanna. There was something she had to do with Shakira, so she wasn't able to be on the record. Ke$ha is crazy, sexy, cool, wild and fun."

Shakira's last full album came in the shape of 2010's 'Sale el Sol', which was released before the singer had her first baby with footballer Gerard Pique.
