Drake to host and perform on ‘Saturday Night Live’

Canadian rapper Drake is set to host and perform on an upcoming edition of ‘Saturday Night Live’.

The ‘Hold On (We’re Going Home)’ hitmaker will be on hosting duties and playing music on the January 18 episode.

The news of Drake’s appointment was revealed on last night’s (December 21) episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ by presenter Jimmy Fallon.

The 27-year-old rap star has previously featured on the show as a musical guest but January 18 will see him make his hosting debut.

Drake already has acting experience to his name having starred in Canadian teen-drama series ‘Degrassi: The Next Generation’ as the character Jimmy Brooks – a high school basketball player who is left physically disabled after being shot by a classmate.

This year has seen a number of high profile music stars both hosting and performing on the live American comedy sketch show, including Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

One Direction also made an apperance on the show earlier this month and took part in a comedy skit with the cast of 'Anchorman'.

Drake’s ‘Would You Like A Tour’ live show will be visiting the UK in March 2014.
