Barack Obama has lavished praise on Kanye West's music.

The US President told People that he is a big fan of the rapper, adding that he owns a lot of his material.

The politician was asked who he would rather spend time with - West and his wife Michelle or the cast of US TV show Duck Dynasty.

He replied: "The Duck Dynasty family seems like a pretty fun bunch, so I can see how that would be pretty fun. Kanye's music is outstanding, though. I've got a lot of his stuff on my iPad. If it was a concert, then I might not mind listening to him."

The two parties have sparred somewhat in the past, with Obama heard criticising West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

West's last album meanwhile came in the shape of 2013's 'Yeezus', which hit No.1 across the world.
