Madonna has made public her forward-thinking New Year's resolution.

The US singer posted a photo on Instagram of the motto she is going to live by over the next twelve months.

It reads: "Darling just f**king own it."

Madonna added in a caption: "My New Years resolution! 2014. Is mine! Bring It! #artforfreedom."

The singer meanwhile will be hoping to replicate her recent financial success, which saw the 'Holiday' star being named the world's top paid female musician.

She acquired $125m between June 2012 and June 2013 as she continued to reap the rewards of her latest album 'MDNA'.

The record was released in March 2012 and its offshoot world tour was the highest grossing live jaunt of that year.

Its 72 shows raked in over $228m (£141m).
