Madonna: 'People assume you can't be sexual and intelligent at the same time'

The Queen of Pop has covered Cosmopolitan magazine 25 years after she covered the magazine's May 1990 issue, and the edition is due to hit newsstands on April 14.

In the accompanying interview, Madonna opens up about women and ageism in the music industry and confessed that the fight just doesn't end:

"Don't be fooled, not much has changed—certainly not for women. We still live in a very sexist society that wants to limit people. Since I started, I've had people giving me a hard time because they didn't think you could be sexual or have sexuality or sensuality in your work and be intelligent at the same time. For me, the fight has never ended."

Madonna, meanwhile, recently told BBC Radio 2 that she might write a memoir in the future:

"I'm sure I will one day. I've got so many tales to tell. If I wrote my book that would be from start to finish. And that's a whole lot of ground to cover. I think I would tell the stories that I felt were valuable to tell, that were inspiring, that people could relate to. I'm a storyteller, that's what I think of myself as, I would share stories that I think would inspire people."
