Madonna submits court declaration: 'Sean Penn never assaulted me'

The Queen of Pop has addressed a couple of incidents that frequently come up in the media surrounding her marriage to Sean Penn — one in 1987, another in 1989 — and denied that she was struck by a baseball bat, tied up or physically assaulted.

Her marriage to Penn lasted from 1985-1989 and she gave a declaration (pictured below) as part of a set of court documents filed by Penn in his defamation lawsuit against 'Empire' co-creator and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Lee Daniels.

Back in September, Daniels defended 'Empire' actor Terrence Howard over reports of domestic trouble and told 'The Hollywood Reporter': "[Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f—in' demon. That's a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America."

As a result of this comment, Penn alleged that he was falsely accused by Daniels of hitting women by being likened to Howard and filed a lawsuit. Madonna has now rushed to defend Penn and explained that she wasn't mistreated by him.
