Madonna plans to open orphanage in Malawi

Madonna has announced that she aims to open an orphanage in Malawi, just months after her plans to build and open a school for girls fell through leaving her to deal with a legal battle

In a new interview for 'American Revolutionaries: The Hitmakers', which is a show in the U.S that is set to focus on some of music's most influential stars, the Queen of Pop explained that she wants to continue her charity work:

"My short term goals are to build an orphan care center that will service and reach at least 1,000 children and I'm also actively involved in funding several orphanages that already exist."

The collapse of her original plans appears to have spurred her on to give back to the country, to which she has a strong bond as she adopted her daughter, Mercy, and son, David, from the African nation.
