World War II video to be shown before Madonna concert in Poland

The organisers of Madonna's upcoming concert in Poland have agreed to show a video about a Polish uprising in the Second World War.

Madonna's gig in Warsaw on August 1 is set to take place on the 68th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, which saw Poles revolt against the Nazis in 1944.

The Associated Press reports that the uprising lasted 63 days and saw up to 200,000 Polish deaths.

The anniversary is commemorated every year and Warsaw officials requested a video be shown at the start of Madonna's concert in order to pay respect.

A spokeswoman for promoters Live Nation said that they have agreed to show the clip. She said:

"It is an important moment in Polish history, so we have decided to remind people of that moment."
