Madonna tour named highest grossing of 2012

Madonna's 'MDNA' tour has been named as the highest-grossing live show of the year.

The singer embarked on a global tour in support of her latest album 'MDNA' and Billboard reports that it took in $228 million (£141 million).

Second on the list is Bruce Springsteen and his Wrecking Ball Tour, which generated an income of $198 million (£123 million).

Roger Waters' The Wall Live show, meanwhile, takes the bronze medal with $186 million (£115 million).

Other names on the list include Coldplay ($147 million/£90.9 million), Lady Gaga ($124 million/£76 million) and Canadian megastar Justin Bieber ($30 million/£18.5 million).

As previously reported, a lawsuit against Madonna was recently dropped in Russia.

The Queen of Pop was in hot water after appearing to promote homosexuality to youths whilst performing in St. Petersburg, where it is said to be outlawed, but the case was thrown out of court.
