Madonna tops Forbes magazine's 'highest paid musicians' list

The Queen of Pop has proven she's still worthy of the global title after being named Forbes magazine's highest paid musician of the year.

The list was compiled from a ranking of artists' earnings from June 2012 to May 2013 and Madonna raked in a staggering $77.3 million ($125 million), putting her firmly in the No.1 position. Back in August, she was also named the highest earning celebrity

Forbes confirmed that in order to create the list, it 'took into account concert ticket sales, royalties for recorded music and publishing, merchandise sales, endorsement deals, and other business ventures' and the 'Like A Prayer' icon's wealth over the last 12 months was mostly due to ticket sales from her MDNA tour, which grossed £188.8 million ($305 million).

'Applause' beauty Lady Gaga came in second place, rockers Bon Jovi were named third, and Coldplay ranked fifth with earnings of £39.6 million ($64 million). Justin Bieber charted at No.6 and country-pop songstress Taylor Swift was seventh.
