Norma Waterson and Eliza Carthy are national (and local) treasures - two of the country's finest exponents of traditional song, both endowed with rich, distinctive and authentic voices. The mother and daughter combo effortlessly engage new audiences and admirers across two generations with a combination of warmth and humanity, and that intangible, immense 'blood harmony' potency which leaves the hairs standing on the back of the neck. Between them, Norma and Eliza have three Mercury Prize nominations and have both been presented with BBC Folk Singer of the Year awards as well as innumerable other accolades including both being awarded MBE’s. With the brilliant guitarist Martin Carthy (MBE) and Saul Rose (melodeon) in accompaniment.

With her recent illness curtailing her schedule of live shows this will be a rare chance to see Norma Waterson in performance and to satisfy her legion of fans worldwide it is planned that these shows will be broadcast live over the internet.

Eliza has most recently been seen and heard singing alongside Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John, Chris Martin, One Direction, Sam Smith & Pharrell Williams, amongst a host of stars, on the BBC Music release of Brian Wilson’s “God Only Knows.”

Friday night will begin with a set by Marry Waterson featuring songs from her own acclaimed repertoire and songs from Bright Phoebus the legendary album by her mother Lal & Mike Waterson.

Kate St John who has worked Dream Academy, Marianne Faithful, Van Morrison & Tom Waits and has been musical director for many major    projects with Leonard Cohen & Damon Albarn amongst others.

This will be followed by The Gift Band (Eliza & Norma) with Martin Carthy & Saul Rose accompanying.

Saturday Night will feature

Sheema Mukherjee the internationally-acclaimed sitar player and member of Imagined Village & Transglobal Underground.

Norma, Eliza & Martin will then be joined by various family members including Ann , Eleanor & Marry Waterson and Davoc Brady for what will no doubt be a performance that revisits many of the family and traditional songs that have made the Waterson/Carthy dynasty so vital a part of the English folk scene.
