Winner of the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award “Remarkable Day Out and recently included in The Telegraph newspapers Best 15 Festivals for the over 50’s, Burton Agnes Hall will hold their 9th Jazz and Blues Festival July 3rd – 5th in their award winning gardens and great Elizabethan Hall.

This year the festival expects to be bigger and better than ever and tickets are selling faster than in all previous years. Tickets are discounted until May 31st and buyers are urged to purchase theirs asap to avoid being disappointed. 

Join them in celebrating the centenary of Billie Holiday's birth with the critically acclaimed 'Lady Sings the Blues' tribute featuring Val Wiseman. Val is twice winner of the Best Singer in the British Jazz Awards. Performing alongside Val Wiseman will be six stars of jazz, including Alan Barnes and Digby Fairweather; all bar one are British Jazz Awards winners.

Then the wonderful rising star and receiver of four nominations and winner of Best Female Vocalist at the latest British Blues Awards, Jo Harman and Company will headline the main stage Saturday evenings entertainment.

Ben Beattie's After Midnight Band plus festival organiser and Hall owner Simon Cunliffe-Lister will bring, what promises to be such a wonderful weekend, to a close on Sunday but not after one of the classiest Jazz and Swing musicians in the UK Nicola Farnon, festival favourites Rob Law Quintet and the 7 piece powerhouse that is New York Brass Band, have all given their stellar performances.

Saxophonist Ben and his musicians will take the audience on an exciting musical journey from the barrelhouses in the Delta, stepping into the smoky jazz and blues clubs of the 40s and 50s in Chicago, New York and Paris, up to the music halls and pioneering record studios. 

In addition to the main stage line up, the festival office will shortly announce acts who will perform at the late night sessions, the performances within their courtyard, and the artists who will grace the Elizabethan Great Hall.

Surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, the festival has been described as the most breathtaking place to spend a weekend, soaking up the UK's hottest jazz and blues acts

Camping is available in the beautiful surroundings of the adjacent Park Field, with hot showers also provided. There are baby changing, disabled facilities and free parking too.

Delicious food is freshly prepared by Burton Agnes’ catering team, ranging from homemade burgers to spicy curries, ice creams from Burton Agnes’ own 1963 vintage ice cream van, and bakes and cupcakes in a wonderful tea tent. Local, award winning Wold Top beers will be on tap, brewed just a few miles away and delivered by brewer and jazz fan Tom Mellor, who then picks up his guitar to play in the Hall.

Highlights for the children include balloon artistry, face painting, a children’s corner and Burton Agnes' grounds include a maze, giant games, jungle garden and woodland walk with crafted forest creatures to find.

Early bird tickets are currently on sale and priced at £60 for the full weekend; children under 12 are free with an adult.

Concessions: OAPs, Burton Agnes Hall members, students and children aged 12-15 are £58.

(Families need only buy one concessionary ticket to cover all their children aged 12-15)

Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday day tickets only are also available.
