Mark Herbert : Writer, producer and the man behind Big Bed Records and chart dance act BED HEDZ

Mark is a UK songwriter and producer, covering pop to dance, folk, indie, soul, R&B and heavy blues. 

He scored success as the writer behind a string of radio-friendly hits with Indigo Road, fronted by the daughter of Wings guitarist Denny Laine, Heidi Jo Hines.   They used to rehearse at Laine’s house near Abbey Road in North London, Laine telling his daughter, “I really like this guy’s songs”.  The BBC’s Sue Marchant chipped in, saying, “I just adore his song, ‘Simple’” while one music critic described him as “a low-key and poetic Mark Ronson”.  

Last year he formed Big Bed Records and started working closely with hot music production house F Block Music, home of Naughty Boy and some of Emilie Sande’s co-writers and producers.  On F Block’s recommendation he signed pop/rock songstress Kirsty Churchill and scored two radio hits with “Those Three Words” and “Who You Gonna Call?”.  In 2016 he created BED HEDZ, a dance act, and has already scored a Top Twenty Club Chart hit with “Who Needs Words”.  The follow up single features the UK’s X-Factor (2015) vocalist, Stephanie McCourt and the single, “Love is Calling” is now hitting clubs in the UK.  

Mark says,

“Big Bed Records’ mission is to work with quality artists to produce a diverse selection of quality singles.  The litmus test with a pop single is whether it is busk-able, is the song strong enough to last in the memory with just one instrument and one voice?” 

Mark is the writer or co-writer on all songs that the label has released.
