The “Music Minds” concert at the O2 Academy Islington on Wednesday 10th October, World Mental Health Day, is a fundraiser, an awareness raising campaign, and launch event for a 3-volume album of special songs in support of UK mental health charities.

The 800-capacity O2 Academy Islington will host a charity fundraiser and album launch event in support of four chosen UK charities; Mind, Samaritans, Nordoff Robbins and Music Support.
One in four of our society will experience mental health problems at some time in our lives and resources are currently stretched to the limit so this campaign aims to help those in most need today.

Eleven acts are confirmed for the concert:

  • Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders
  • Squeeze’s Chris Difford and Matt Deighton
  • Liverpool’s Thomas Lang, Philip Rambow, My Darling Clementine
  • Brand New Zeros featuring Ronan MacManus, brother of Elvis Costello
  • Gypsyfingers featuring Mike Oldfield’s son Luke
  • Nick Judd, Niall Kelly, John J O’Sullivan, Les Glover & Pete Riley
  • The evening will be MC’d by comedian Steve Furst, appearing as the fictional Mayor of Kentish Town.

We are delighted to have received over 50 songs - many are rare, unreleased or specially recorded. The eleven acts above have each contributed a song as well as some multi-million selling artists including:

  • 10cc’s Graham Gouldman
  • Nik Kershaw
  • Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook
  • Roxy Music’s guitarist Phil Manzanera
  • The Christians’ Henry Priestman

Songs from established performers such as Tom Robinson, Mari Wilson, Connie Lush, Rumer, and Ian Shaw are joined by new, upcoming talents including Steve Rodgers (son of Free and Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers), Lily Garland, J.Chambers, and Mumbai’s ONEmpire.

Concert goers will be able to purchase the CD boxset at a special pre-release price on the night ahead of its official release on Friday 12th October.

An animated cartoon, showing many simple to follow tips for healthier minds, has been released on the Music Minds YouTube page. The soundtrack is a new version of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” with arrangement and instruments played by Steve Nieve and with vocal performances by many of the contributing acts.
