Mariah Carey has confirmed that she is pregnant. 

In an interview with ‘Access Hollywood’, which is due to air later today, the star confirmed speculation, which had been starting to mount around the supposed pregnancy.

“Yes, we are pregnant, it’s true!” Carey revealed, sitting next to her husband, Nick Cannon. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy."

The baby, which is due this spring, will be the couple’s first, although in the interview they speak of suffering a miscarriage, which happened almost two years ago. This may be the reason behind the couple's earlier silence regarding the pregnancy.

“It kind of shook us both and took us into a place that was really dark and difficult. When that happened…I wasn’t able to talk to anyone about it. That was not easy,” she said.
