Mariah Carey to be honoured at the GLAAD Media Awards
Director Lee Daniels will present Carey with her LGBT media organization's Ally Award at the Waldorf Astoria New York on May 14. The prize uis given to "a media figure who has consistently used their platform to support and advance LGBT equality and acceptance."
GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis issued a statement on the news, which reads: “Through her music and outspoken support, Mariah Carey has inspired and empowered countless LGBT fans across the globe. She is a longtime ally and friend to the LGBT community who has worked tirelessly to move acceptance and inclusion forward.”
Earlier this year, Carey expressed a desire to work with Beyoncé and confessed that a collaboration would be a dream come true:
"I would love to work with her anytime, she's amazing. We've known each other for a while...It'll happen, when and if it happens...And if not, I'll always admire her and look at her as a friend. We have a lot of fun, she's fun. She's a great girl. I love her so much, I really do."
