Nick Cannon bought wife and new mum Mariah Carey a special present to commemorate their first Mother's Day as parents, which PopEater reports set him back a cool $12,000. 

Jeweller Jason Arasheben revealed to People Magazine that he made an exclusive necklace for the 'Obsessed' singing superstar from rose gold with the names of their twins spelt out in suitably coloured diamonds. 

"Nick was really excited about the babies' names and wanted to do a piece with them for Mariah's first Mother's Day, pink sapphires are bright and bold and diamonds are always so classic."

The very sparkly gift was designed by Cannon himself and Arasheben added:

"He was bleary eyed, looking so tired but so happy -- all smiles, saying he wanted to design something special for Mariah's first Mother's day,"
