Mark Ronson 'I learned so much fom Amy Winehouse'

Hitmaker Mark Ronson has opened up about the late Amy Winehouse in a new interview and revealed that he learned a lot from her because she was a talented singer and knew a lot about music.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, the 'Uptown Funk' sensation confessed that he was shocked to learn of her death because he believed she had overcome her demons and was 'getting better': "I was surprised (when I got the call telling me Amy had died) because she'd been getting better; for the past year she hadn't done drugs."

"She was a real student of jazz. I learned so much about chords from her, and except for [the song] 'Back to Black', which we wrote together, she had all the songs. We went for a walk, she told me the rehab story, and I said, 'You should write a song about that.' What we did together didn't sound like anything whatsoever that was popular or on the radio; I thought it was a little too eccentric to be so successful - especially for America."

Ronson, meanwhile, recently confirmed that he has been in the studio with songstress Lana Del Rey: "I'm going to do some recording with Lana Del Rey today and tomorrow. I found this cool old studio out here. I don't know [if it'll make the record]. She has some songs and I said I had some demo ideas, and if they are any good, then maybe she'll like them and we'll go from there."
